ANYA accuses CM of promoting regionalism & communal politics

ITANAGAR, AUG 1:

The All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) on Saturday lambasted Chief Minister Pema Khandu for patronizing demand for creation of Mon Autonomous Region (MAR) and accused him of promoting regionalism and communal politics in the state.

Questioning the need for the autonomous region, ANYA in its statement said that a lion s share of state and centrally sponsored schemes has been implemented in Tawang and West Kameng districts every financial year. There is already a Department of Karmik & Adhyatmik Affairs (DoKAA). The state too has given them enough opportunity to serve the state by electing three chief ministers and two union ministers. Moreover, unemployment problem is almost nil in their belts in comparison to other districts of Arunachal then what is the need of Mon Autonomous Region, it said.

Accusing the Chief Minister of openly supporting demand for the Mon autonomous region, ANYA said any decision on granting it would lead to series of such demands in every district and by every community of the state.

The Mon Autonomous Region Demand Committee (MARDC) on July 29 had organized a meeting with Chief Minister Pema Khandu reiterating its demand and had called for a tripartite talk to be initiated with the state and central government.

The All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) and the Nyishi Ethnic Students of Arunachal (NESA) have also slammed the committee s demand for the autonomous region.

It will directly or indirectly sow seeds of discord and division among the various tribes in the state. It should be averted as every community & region in the state aspires for progress, prosperity and cohesive development , AAPSU had said flaying the demand.
