AACWA seeks lifting of lockdown

ITANAGAR, AUG 1:

The All Arunachal Contractors Welfare Association (AACWA) has requested lifting of ongoing lockdown in the Itanagar capital region (ICR) post August 3 stating that extended lockdown has hit hard the entire segment of business/contractor community, especially the daily wagers, petty traders, and road side vendors and hospitality and food sectors.

During the long span of lockdown, several businesses have either collapsed or are at its verge. With no support from the government, business, contractors community are struggling on a daily basis. As majority of the people in the ICR depends on the business, community and contract work, it is important that their well being is taken care off. In such scenario, extension of lockdown would be detrimental for the wellbeing of the contract work and business community as well as for the people of the state , AACWA in its representation submitted to the Chief Secretary on Saturday said.

AACWA also suggested implementation of odd-and-even movement of vehicles and left and right system of opening for shops to avoid and discourage over-crowding in the markets post lockdown.

Other proposals raised by the association in its representation are adoption of home isolation for asymptomatic COVID-19 patients, extension of time for antigen test at Banderdewa check gate till 9.00 pm and strict vigilance on violators for non-maintenance of SOPs.
