Week-long lockdown imposed in East Siang

PASIGHAT, JUL 31:

East Siang deputy commissioner Dr Kinny Singh on Friday announced 7-day lockdown from August 1 to 7 in Pasighat township and its rural peripheries, Ruksin sub-division and Sille-Oyan Circle.

All Inter-district and inter-state movement of people has been prohibited, except for emergencies. Permission to travel in medical grounds could be taken by seeking prior permission from the DC office through: emaildistrictnocovid19@gmail.com. Agri-horti activities have been allowed.

All shops and business establishments would remain closed except home delivery of essential items. Banks & ATMs, health facilities will function. Movement of people and vehicles other then essential services has been prohibited. Airport domestic flight services will also be suspended during the lockdown.

Other than DC office, Police, Health, Courts, Fire and essential services departments of Power, PHE, all government offices will operate through Work from Home basis. No public gathering including social, political, academic, cultural, religious sports/entertainment will be permitted. For funerals, twenty persons will be allowed to attend.

The Nursing Officer Recruitment Examination scheduled for August 2 has also been postponed till further order.

BPG Hospital has also been sealed and only emergency services will function. All staff of BPGH will undergo rapid antigen tests. A tele-medicine service would also start during the lockdown period under the aegis of Joint DHS, BPGH.

At least 9 BPGH medical staff, 3 truck drivers and a bank employee from Assam, and 2 in a quarantine facility tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday.

Altogether 29 positive cases are admitted in Covid Care Centre and Dedicated Covid Hospital.

At Siluk Containment Zone, all 590 tests conducted by rapid antigen tests have come negative.
