Tawang DC meets stakeholders on COVID-19 management

TAWANG, JUL 31:

Tawang deputy commissioner Sang Phuntsok convened a coordination meeting of all stakeholders including representatives from the Indian Army, SSB, ITBP, SIB, SB, GREF, public leaders from Jang and student leaders at DC s conference hall to chalk out measures to tackle COVID-19 spread.

Tawang MLA Tsering Tashi in his address said the meeting has been called keeping in view the recent findings of few positive cases among the Army and GREF personnel. He said, since many villagers work under GREF as labourers and public live interdependent to the forces, it is very important for all to work together to fight the virus. It becomes a matter of concern, if a single member of any organization is infected with the virus, he added.

Appealing all to adhere to the SOPs strictly, the MLA requested the GREF authority not to curtail the wages of those labourers who have been home quarantined by administration due to their coming in contact with the positive case patients. He later conveyed his gratitude to all the frontline workers for their sincere and dedicated service.

DC conveyed his gratitude to all the NGOs, public leaders and student leaders for their cooperation and contribution during the pandemic. He also informed that, in the tests made so far, maximum of the local labourers have come negative.

He also thanked the villagers of Jang for being in the forefront from day one and their contribution in erecting check gate at POE in providing free food for drivers during lockdown.

During open discussion session, the senior public representatives from Jang village, ADC Jang, SDMO Jang, student leaders placed their opinions and requested the various central paramilitary forces and GREF to follow SOP and share any information related to returnees and symptomatic development in any of their personnel, so that the spread of the virus is contained.
