AWSFPO office inaugurated

AALO, JUL 3:

The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi inaugurated the Aalo West Sipu Farmer Producers Organization (AWSFPO) in presence of officers and representatives from 33 villages under Aalo West amid cheer and applause at Sipu Colony today.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, DC said that the district is bestowed with fertile and productive soil for various nature of large scale farming to sustain our lives and remain self-reliant. We have been depending on wet cultivation to store food grains for yearly requirement but our approach towards income generating avenues like agriculture, horticulture, fishery and dairy farming has not taken place in the district in a big way. All line departments are there to impart Know How and farmers should reach out to the departments to avail all facilities provided by the government to do away the dependence syndrome from neighboring states , he said.

DC further said that the practice of double cropping should be adopted to generate double income to the farmers and the district should keep its rich legacy of excelling in different parameters.

The Chairman Siang Farmers Federation Doi Ado said that break and start attitude in taking up farming among the people have been a big hurdle in achieving the goal of self- reliant farmers. The lockdowns during this COVID-19 pandemic and shortage of food grains, vegetables, meat and fishes should teach us a good lesson to work hard to meet our own requirements and enhance our earning, Ado said.

The Chairman AWSFPO Topak Ori, Kirdo Ete, Deba Loya and Gejum Ete also spoke in detail on cluster farming.

The Cluster Farming envisages taking up 2000 kitchen gardens in 5 hectares of land in each constituency. The Aalo East and West have already registered and opened offices in their respective constituencies and 27th Liromoba constituency is also preparing for registration. DIPRO
