The two day training programme on house listing and housing census and updation of NPR for District and Census Charge officers of Lower Subansiri and Kamle districts concluded today at DC Conference hall, Hapoli today.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Lower Subansiri, Chukhu Takar on Monday. He advised the officers to avail the opportunity to clarify all their doubts pertaining to census operations and ensure accurate data collection.
Attending the concluding session of the training Director Census Dr Joram Beda, IAS said that the Census is the most credible source of information on Demography (Population characteristics) and socio-economic activities.
This is the only source of primary data in the village, town and ward level. It provides valuable information for planning and formulation of policies for central and the state governments and is widely used by national and international agencies, scholars, business people, industrialists, and many more, he said.
The exercise for massive 16th Census of India will be the first ever digital census of the country through Mobile App. We therefore will have to abreast ourselves and feed the right data, he added while exhorting the DCs to lead from the forefront.
The trainings were imparted by resource persons from Directorate of Census Operation, Shillong N C Mazumdar, Assistant Director, P K Rabha, SI Grade-II and P Rabha, UDC.
Topics like legal provisions and roles and responsibilities of census functionaries, preparation of layout map for both rural and urban, management and monitoring through CMMS, HLO schedule etc were covered during the program.
Also hands-on training on NPR App, CMMS portal and other mobile apps for HLO was also imparted to the functionaries.
The massive exercise will be divided into three phase. The first phase from 15th April to 29th May 2020 will involve house listing and housing census, population enumeration in the second phase from 9th to 28th February 2021 and the last phase as Revision round from 1st to 5th May 2021.
The training was attended by Deputy Commissioner Kamle Moki Loyi, ADC Ziro Nending Chatung, SDO Ziro B Tawsik and Census charge officers of both the districts. DIPRO
