ITANAGAR, FEB 18:
The Directorate of Family Welfare organized one day capacity building-cum-sensitization workshop on Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PC&PNDT) Act, 1994 for the District Appropriate Authority -cum - DMOs and DEOs today.
The programme was aimed at training the officer and official on effective implementation of the Act in the district.
Deputy Director (FW) Dr C Mongmaw in his address requested all the DMOs to adhere to the act and take all necessary steps to ensure registration of all ultrasound machines and clinic in the districts and said to strengthen the PC&PNDT Act by strictly monitoring to prevent misuse of pre-natal diagnostic techniques.
Dr P Dutta State Nodal Officer PC&PNDT urged the districts to improve the indicator and to bring sex ratio in Arunachal into desired level (at par with national average level) further. He said one should take responsibility and information should be properly disseminated and percolation down.
Giving power-point presentation on status of PC&PNDT Act, he informed that it is mandatory to display the qualification of UGC machine handler and registration of UGC machine and renewal of registration.
He also informed it is requisite to inform the District Appropriate Authority before purchasing the new UGC machine.
