ITANAGAR, FEB 18:
State Legislative Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona on Tuesday discussed with the officials of Arunachal Pradesh Rural Bank (APRB) regarding opening of a rural bank branch in Monigong-Pidi administrative block in Shi-Yomi district.
Sona, who represents Shi-Yomi district as MLA, informed APRB chairman Dr Deepak Kr Gupta and his officials that due to unavailability of financial institutions in the area, the people of Monigong-Pidi administrative block face lots of hardships. They are compelled to go either to Mechukha or Aalo covering around 200 km for all kinds of financial transactions, he said.
The opening of a branch in Monigong-Pidi administrative block will not only facilitate hassle free as well as convenient banking services to the public but also help in economic growth of area , Sona added.
He further requested the APRB officials to send a team to Monigong-Pidi to survey the feasibility while assuring to extend all possible help from his side to open the branch.
Meanwhile, Dr Gupta, Chairman APRB, briefed the Speaker about technicalities and other procedures for opening of the branch. He informed that Rural Bank currently operates in various places across the state and facilitating banking services to the masses. He also informed about one new branch being opened at Nacho in Upper Subansiri district.
While assuring to send a team soon to explore the feasibility of opening a branch in Monigong-Pidi Block, Dr Gupta sought cooperation and support from the Speaker.
