Karbak inaugurates badminton academy

AALO, JAN 13:

Liromoba MLA Nyamar Karbak inaugurated the Dagnyum- Dugbi Badminton Academy at Gumin Nagar amid cheer and applause here Sunday.

The academy has been built by Sora brothers in memory of their parents, late Dagnyum Sora and Dubi Ete Sora, whose four sons Nyumyom Sora, Nyumli Sora, Nyumge Sora and Nyumpe Sora were among finest state level footballers of the state.

Inaugurating the Academy, Karbak said that nothing can be more befitting than to start a sports academy in the name of their parents who nurtured such sport talent sons for the district to open up a training platform for the budding young stars from the district and hoped that academy grow year by year. The MLA also assured to render all possible helps to Sora brothers in managing coaches and training for the academy. Sports not only keep you fit today but provides ample of job opportunities today and stressed on grooming talented children.

The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Swetika Sachan also lauded the creative venture and hoped that the academy will go a long way to produce good badminton players from the district.

President DBA Association Kenbom Riba also spoke on the occassion.

Chairman DDBA, Nyumyom Sora informed that motive behind starting the academy is to train the youngsters to excel in the game of badminton and it could materialized due to bank sponsored loan, contribution from family members and well wishers after long years of struggle. He made special mention of his SP Sanjay Kumar SP Lower Dibang Valley who donated inverter and batteries for smooth and Er. Nyajum Padu, EE (rtd.) for contributing Rs. 2 lakhs for construction of the academy.

Altogether 21 players have already registered their names in the academy. In the inaugural Badminton matches played on the occasion, the pair of Nyumyom Sora - Nyumli Sora defeated MLA Nyamar Karbak- DFO Abhinav Kumar. (DIPRO)
