Folk artistes perform in NE Cultural Yatra


Under the three-day Discover North East - Cultural Yatra 2019 programme, folk artistes from various states of the country showcased their performing arts at Kiyit, Bilat, Mebo and Pasighat and enthralled the audience.

The Cultural Yatra-2019 was organized by the Department of Art & Culture, Government of Arunachal Pradesh and East Siang district administration in collaboration with North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), with the objective to promote the folk art forms and performing arts particularly among the young generation and to take these rich art forms to rural areas.

DC Dr Kinny Singh speaking as Chief Guest at IGJ Govt Hr Sec School auditorium on Friday, said that such initiative help in cultural interaction and creating awareness among the young generation in particular and people in general about the vibrant and rich cultural heritage and art forms of their country.

Myriad folk dances Kalbeliya & Ghoomar from Rajasthan, the famous Litho Shele Pheta from Nagaland, Sambal Puri and from Odisha, Kushan dance from Assam, Yoyo Gaga , Engo Didum Telo , Nero Aming Pasi Kongki from Arunachal were performed during the three-day Yatra.

The three-day cultural Yatra which began on December 11 and held mainly in rural areas was witnessed by huge gathering.

ADC Hage Lailiang attended as the Chief Guest at Mebo while CO Namsing, Khoda Lhasa was the Chief Guest at the Discover North East Yatra at Kiyit. On the second day at Bilat, CO Bilat Oni Padun was the Chief Guest.

District Art & Culture Officer, East Siang, Augusti Jamoh in his address thanked all the stakeholders and the warm and huge response of the people to the cultural performances.

Deputy Director, NEZCC, M Senti Ao highlighted that NEZCC aims to develop and promote rich cultural diversity, cultural linkages among states, to encourage folk & tribal arts, encourage and involve the youth in creative cultural communications, documentations etc. DIPRO
