104 stranded Arunachalees evacuated from Assam


One hundred four Arunachalees stranded in the ongoing stir in Assam against Citizenship (Amendment) Act were evacuated in one go from Borburauh, Dibgrugarh, Tinsukia and Digboi areas of Assam in the intervening night of December 13 last.

The rescued citizens included students, medical patients, business men, government employees and general public of Changlang district, Namsai and Tirap district.

The massive rescue operation was carried out by the district administration and Arunachal Pradesh Police Changlang district, unit under the supervision of RK Sharma, DC Changlang and Mihin Gambo, SP Changlang.

Earlier during the day, the district police, Changlang had also successfully evacuated a newborn baby with parents hailing from Kharsang of Changlang district from Ali Hospital, Margherita who were stranded for last four days.

The evacuation operation was successfully executed in close coordination with Assam Police especially Dibrugarh and Tinsukia police, 171 CRPF, 23 Punjab regiment and 3 Gharwal Regiment.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner, Changlang had expressed his heartfelt gratitude to 171 CRPF Dibrugarh for bringing all the stranded persons from Borburuah to Arunachal Bhawan, Dibrugarh and providing lunch at their camp on personal request of SP Changlang. He also expressed his special thanks to local public of Borburauh who helped the stranded students with food and shelter.

He further appreciated Dixon Kimsing, a stranded student who constantly kept coordinating with all others stranded students on ground at Dibrugarh and Borboruah areas.

Kudos to evacuation team lead by Inspector C A Namchoom, OC PS Changlang, ASI A Mehta, HC RK Mol and other police personnel who carried out evacuation operation which lasted for more than 20 hrs on intervening night of 13th December last. DIPRO
