World Disabled Day greetings

ITANAGAR, DEC 2:

Governor Brig (Dr) B D Mishra (Retd) and Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended their warm greetings to the differently-abled people of the State, as also of other parts of the country and the world on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The Governor in his message expressed his hope that the celebration of the Day will create awareness for the cause of the differently-abled for promoting their dignity, safety, security, rights, and equal opportunity for progress in society.

The Governor said that humane attitude plays an important role in promoting 'Divyang' people in social life and economic field. This must start from within the family and extend to society, he said calling upon each and every section of the society to do their bit in securing proper rehabilitation to the differently-abled people and encourage them to be performers.

He further stated that mental inhibition and not the physical disability is the most difficult hurdle for the differently-abled people to overcome. Therefore, as a matter of necessity, the differently-abled people must inculcate mental robustness and spirit to be achiever. Building up of self-confidence and optimism are the cornerstones which make them accomplisher, the Governor said.

On this important day, let us seek and identify the abilities of the differently-abled persons and promote them. Today, we reiterate our resolve to discharge our moral, social and constitutional responsibility to treat our disabled brethren with indulgence and compassion, he Governor added.

Meanwhile, CM Khandu in his message said on the day which aims to increase public awareness, understanding and acceptance of people with disability and celebrate their achievements and contributions, we need to find out on how individuals and organizations can get involved in the day and how to break down barriers (both structural and attitudinal) for people with disability.
