The 2nd District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) cum Enforcement Squad meeting under the aegis of District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Yingkiong was held at conference hall of Deputy Commissioner Yingkiong under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Tapar Pada, Yingkiong today.
The meeting was attended by all the DLCC and the enforcement squad members, DDSE N Tasing, DSP Opir Paron, Town Magistrate Pandov Perme, DDA A D Paggeng, DTO Dr Ahir Miyu and the BEOs of different blocks.
The meeting opened up with welcome speech by Goyir Ada District Consultant (DTCC), Yingkiong and highlighted the aims and objective of the meeting. DPO Dr India Modi DTCC, Yingkiong gave a brief presentation on the pros and cons of using tobacco in day to day life.
Further, he presented a brief overview of NTCP and status of District Tobacco Control Cell & various provision of Cotpa, 2003 and briefed the roles and responsibilities of the committee members and requested every member to take active participation in making Tobacco-free district in Upper Siang .
The meeting was also marked by open discussion on how to control the use of tobacco in the society. DDA suggested and shared his story of addiction and how he started using tobacco in his early childhood. He promised to quit the use of Tobacco by setting an example. He also suggested implementing the Cotpa Act including the Women Self Help Groups in the district.
Inspector Tax & Exercise suggested to identify the whole sell dealers in order to minimise the sale of tobacco products in the district.
Deputy Commissioner T Pada in his remarks assured full support and cooperation in implementation of COTPA in Upper Siang district and explained his experiences on how he controlled in the other districts and in his own hometown and invited all the participants for their full cooperation for its successful implementation.
The meeting was concluded with vote of thanks by DTO Dr A Miyu by thanking all the participants and invited for their full cooperation for the successful implementation of the COTPA in Upper Siang district. DIPRO
