DOIMUKH, DEC 2:
Minister of Health & Family Welfare, WCD and SJETA, Alo Libang, launched the Matru Vandana Saptah under Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana with the theme towards building a healthy nation here at Doimukh today.
While speaking on the occasion, Libang informed that Matru Vandana Saptah is being celebrated across the nation from December 2-8 in all the districts, blocks and villages and it aims to enroll all eligible beneficiaries especially pregnant women and lactating mothers so that no one is left behind.
He also informed that scheme provides Rs 5000 directly into Bank account of women in three installments though DBT for first child.
He also said the department of Women and Child Development is working relentlessly to improve the maternal health and child development in the state however to make it success all round efforts from every section of the society is equally important to create more awareness on importance of maternal and child health and nutrition at grassroot level so that all eligible beneficiaries are enrolled under the scheme.
He appealed all stakeholders including Goan Buras and village level workers to take part in the celebration with full enthusiasm and sensitize the people across the district to avail the benefits under the scheme.
He also requested Health Department and WCD to work in close co-ordination with each other to make the celebration successful in the district. Later, he also distributed nutrition baskets to pregnant and lactating mothers on the occasion.
MLA Tana Hali Tara expressed requested the WCD and health departments to sensitize the people in remote areas so that they can also avail the benefits of scheme. He also gave away prizes to winners of running competition.
Earlier, Tokmem Pertin Loyi, Director WCD department in her key note address highlighted the importance of Matru Vandana Saptah .
CDPO Doimukh also gave brief information on status of department performance in implementing the scheme.
Among others present were DC Papum Pare Pige Ligu, SDO Mokar Riba, DMO Dr.Subu Tasso Kampu, officers, staffs, GBs and beneficiaries.
To mark the day, a running race competition was flagged off by the minister where womenfolk of every walk of life including AWWs enthusiastically participated at general ground Doimukh.
