Woman who accused MLA of rape threatens suicide

ITANAGAR, OCT 18:

The woman who has accused Bameng MLA Goruk Pordung of rape on Friday threatened to commit suicide if a counter complaint is filed against her husband and is arrested.

If the complaint against my husband gets registered and he is arrested, I will commit suicide. MLA Goruk Pordung and Capital SP Tumme Amo will be individuals responsible for my death , the woman said talking to media persons here at Itanagar Police Station.

She had reportedly come to the PS to enquire whether a complaint has been filed against her and her husband by the MLA and Capital SP.

I have been unnecessarily harassed by the police despite being the victim , the woman who is a doctor by profession said. She also informed that the police personnel had come to her house earlier on the day to collect evidences including the clothes she wore on the night of October 12, when the allege incident took place at a city hotel, and the CCTV footage of her house.

The woman demanded cancellation of the MLA s interim bail and sought his arrest immediately.

Earlier, denying the allegations of rape, Pordung had issued a clarification where he accused the woman and her husband of blackmailing and had termed the whole accusations as criminal conspiracy to tarnish his political image .

Meanwhile, the woman s politician husband in a press briefing on Thursday had also accused Capital SP Tumme Amo of trying to shield the MLA from arrest and for purposely delaying in filing the FIR against the lawmaker.
