NAMSAI, JUL 15:
Lekang MLA Jummum Ete Deori visited the flood affected areas under Lekang circle to take stock of the situation here Monday. The MLA was accompanied by N L Naam, Circle Officer Lekang, and EE WRD and other officers.
She inspected the flood-hit areas in Dirak Miri, Rangalee beel, New Silatoo and philobari villages under Lekang circle. She also visited the relief camp set up by the district administration in Silatoo Kosari gaon where two families consisting of 10 members have been sheltered and have been provided with ration, vegetable items etc.
The MLA further visited the ongoing flood protection works at New Silatoo village which is being executed by the Department of WRD. It was found that some part of the ongoing Sheet Piling works has been damaged by the recent heavy flood for which she instructed the department of WRD to take up emergent flood protection measures to control any future damages.
She also appealed to the public to not believe to any kind of hearsay as the situation is being constantly monitored by the District Administration and the department concerned.
Deputy Commissioner Namsai, Dr Tapasya Raghav, IAS had also visited the flood affected areas on July 8 and has also given necessary instructions to the departments. The department of WRD is carrying on with their emergent flood protection measures.
