Strengthen rural road connectivity: Guv

ITANAGAR, JUL 15:

Governor Brig B D Mishra (Retd) on Monday said that strengthening the rural road connectivity will bring about development and prosperity in every corner of the State.

The officials and concerned authorities must be ready to go into the details of each project and work with anticipation to remove any cause of delay in the road construction work. As socio-economic development of the rural communities, particularly agrarian community and entrepreneurs in horticulture depends, inter alia, on the availability of good road, the concerned officers must take up rural connectivity in a mission mode. Availability of good road is for the welfare of the people and it adds to national security, he said while chairing a high-level meeting on road connectivity, with special reference to 157 km Miao-Vijoynagar Road here at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar.

Rural Works Department (RWD) Minister Honchun Ngandam, Urban Development & Civil Supplies Minister Kamlung Mosang, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Lalramthanga, IFS, RWD Secretary Kapa Kholie, IAS, RWD Chief Engineer Er Doli Nyodu and RWD Executive Engineer M Rike were also present in the meeting amongst others.

The Governor advised all present that the road projects must be planned for long term use and care must be taken for its durability and robustness. Due to the difficult terrain and climate, if conventional methods of road construction are not feasible, the implementing agencies must use alternative latest technologies to have good roads in the State, he added.

Referring to Miao-Vijoynagar road, the Governor said that a concerted effort is needed by all to expedite the construction of the road.
