Reactivate work on Miao-Vijoynagar road: Guv

ITANAGAR, JUL 11:

Minister for Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Urban Development, etc, Kamlung Mosang called on Governor BD Mishra at Raj Bhavan, here on Thursday to discuss about the welfare of the people of Vijoynagar administrative circle in Changlang district.

The remote easternmost part of the State comes under 50 Miao (ST) Assembly Constituency, represented by Mosang. The Minister briefed the Governor about the challenges and problems of the people of Vijoynagar area.

While expressing his concerns about the wellbeing of the people of the remote Vijoynagar area, the Governor advised the Minister to ensure that basic commodity such as ration items are made available to them. He emphasised on the minister that the key to the solution of the problems of the people living in remote areas is to provide them with road connectivity.

Mishra said that Vijoynagar remains cut-off all through the year and extremely inaccessible during rainy season. He asked the minister to reactivate the work on Miao-Vijoynagar road at the earliest and said that he would like to chair a meeting on this issue on July 15 next in his office.

The Governor also advised the minister to take necessary measures so that the benefits of developmental initiatives of the state government reach the remotest corner of his constituency and the State.

Congratulating the state government for its stand on textbook distribution, the Governor asked the minister to ensure that textbooks and school uniforms reach to the deserving students.

During the meeting, the Governor also spoke to the Deputy Commissioner of Changlang district, RK Sharma and Border Road Organization (BRO) Chief Engineer of Project Udayak, Jitendra Prasad about the alternative road alignment construction to Vijoynagar. He asked the BRO CE to expedite the process to bring development in the area.
