Disposal of bio-medical waste discussed

RAGA, JUN 11:

The first District Level committee meeting on Bio Medical Waste Management was held in Raga today. The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Moki Loyi.

Addressing the members, the DC called for unified efforts from all the stakeholders to ensure bio medical hazards are prevented.

Dr Nani Rika, DMO Kamle dealt at length about the safe disposal of bio-medical wastes. He emphasised on the need for proper training of all the health workers handling bio medical waste.

Proper segregation of wastes is the first step to effectively dispose of waste , he said while informing the members about different colours designated for different wastes.

Although Raga is yet to face any bio medical waste hazards, we have to have a plan in place, he further added and called for cooperation from all the members.

The meeting was attended by all the members of the District Monitoring Committee on bio medical waste. DIPRO
