Enough is enough, says AAPSU

ITANAGAR, MAY 21:

Enough is enough. Such acts of violence are beyond tolerance. There is a need for launching necessary deterrents against such elements so that public confidence and faith is restored. There is a general feeling that underground elements are openly having a field day in these three districts, All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) president Hawa Bagang said condemning the gruesome killing of Khonsa West MLA Tirong Aboh and ten others by suspected militants near Khonsa on Tuesday.

Such act of violence shall never be acceptable in a civilised society like ours and we urge everyone to come out and shun violence and anti-social activities from our state , he said in a statement.

Claiming that the ambush leading to the MLA s death seems to be politically motivated , the AAPSU president said that Aboh was a fearless and vocal leader who selflessly took up the issues pertaining to the general populace both inside and outside the state assembly.

The Unioin urged both the State and Union Governments to launch immediate operations to nab all those anti-social elements involved in gruesome murder of Aboh and other members of his entourage.

How long shall the people of our state especially the Tirap, Changlang and Longding districts suffer due to the terror created by such anti-social elements and insurgents in the minds of the common man. Even last month a former ZPM Seliam Wangsa was shot dead by suspected insurgents in Longding area. Another political worker of Aboh, one Jaley Anna was also killed in similar manner during an NPP election rally, he said.

AAPSU also demanded for constitution of a high level investigation into all election related killings and violence in TLC belt so that those responsible are duly held accountable by the law. It also urged the people to not go for politically motivated revenge killings which have become very much predominant in some parts of the state.

In his demise, the entire state has lost a proud son whose vacuum shall be very hard to fill, AAPSU said.

Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh Literary Society (APLS) members led by President Y D Thonchi also condemned the dastardly killing of MLA Tirong Aboh and 10 others by underground elements today. This has sent a terrifying message about revival of insurgency after peace prevailed for a long time in those three districts, APLS said.

While conveying condolences to the bereaved families and praying for the eternal peace of all departed souls, APLS fervently appealed to facilitate peace.
