The three day long cataract operation and free distribution camp organized by the District Health Society (DHS) in collaboration with National Programme for Control for Blindness & Visual Impairment began here today at General Hospital Aalo.
Inaugurating the camp, West Siang Deputy Commissioner, Swetika Sachan said that this type of programme will largely benefit the needy people and urged the doctors on duty to give best services to the needy people.
Dr Moli Riba, District Medical Officer, who is personally supervising the camp, disclosed that 673 patients have registered on day one and 51 patients have been listed for cataract operation that will be done on March 16 and 17.
178 spectacles have been distributed basing on different nature of eye ailments, he said.
The cataract surgeries will be done Dr Taba Khanna, Ophthalmologist cum State Programme Officer NPCB&VI, Dr Bai Bam Ophthalmologist TRIHMS and Dr Tape Kaye, Ophthalmologist GH Aalo.
The inaugural ceremony was witnessed by HoDs of the district also. DIPR
